God Follows the Rules

A Facebook friend recently posted about something she was trying to accomplish, and how it had turned out that it would be possible but very difficult and inconvenient. She asked if this was God's way of saying yes or no. I responded, saying, "Sometimes it's just chance." I worry that my laudable brevity left me open to misunderstanding, so I am taking the opportunity to clarify here.

The Didache

The Didache, or The Teaching of the Twelve, is a very early Christian text that has always interested me. It gives a picture of early Jewish Christian life and how Jewish Christians adapted their Jewish practice to their new beliefs and to their Gentile brothers and sisters. Scholars place its origin in the middle or end of the first century.
